The biggest qualitative change is GPT-5's ability to maintain a chain of reasoning across long, multi-step problems. Tasks that used to require careful prompting (legal analysis, multi-file refactors, financial modeling) now work on the first ask.
Native multimodal end-to-end
GPT-5 takes text, image, audio, and short video as input and can output text, images, and speech in the same response. There's no model switching anymore.
Voice mode that doesn't feel scripted
Advanced Voice Mode in GPT-5 handles interruptions, accents, and code-switching naturally. It's the first time voice AI has felt closer to talking to a person than dictating to a transcript.
Lower hallucination rate
OpenAI's reported reduction in hallucinations matches what we see in practice — but **don't stop fact-checking**. GPT-5 is more confident, which makes the remaining errors harder to spot.
