Every founder starts with a problem they can't stop thinking about.

For Alex Mili, that problem was social data.

After spending years building AI systems and automation workflows for clients, he repeatedly ran into the same obstacle: the agents were smart, but they lacked access to reliable real-world data.

Instead of continuing to work around the problem, Alex built SocialRouter — a platform that provides developers and AI agents with a single API layer for accessing social network data across multiple providers.

Fresh off SocialRouter's Week 17 victory on The Capital, we sat down with Alex to discuss his journey, the future of AI agents, and why honest products win in the long run.

Please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background.

    Alex Mili:

I'm Alex Mili. I'm French, and I've spent the last ten years building AI systems, mostly agents.

I run an AI agency, TrustAIAgency.com, where I build automation systems for clients. Across project after project, I kept hitting the same wall: the agents were smart, but the data behind them wasn't there.

SocialRouter is my attempt to fix that problem once and for all instead of solving it repeatedly for every engagement.

What is SocialRouter, and what problem does it solve?

    Alex Mili:

SocialRouter is one API for social data.

The platform currently supports 56 services across 11 networks, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Pinterest, Bluesky, Snapchat, and Google Maps.

Developers simply submit a social URL and SocialRouter automatically routes the request to the appropriate provider while returning a normalized response.

The platform is available through a REST API, TypeScript SDK, and MCP server, making it easy for AI agents to consume directly.

    The problem is fragmentation.

Extracting social data today means juggling multiple providers, multiple APIs, different billing models, and inconsistent response formats.

SocialRouter simplifies that complexity into a single interface.

    As Alex puts it:

"This is the exact mess LLMs were in before OpenRouter. Same fix, applied to social data."

What inspired you to start SocialRouter?

    Alex Mili:

    Client work, not market research.

I was building GTM agents that found leads, generated outreach, and tracked competitors.

The problem was that these agents were essentially text generators without access to real-world data.

An agent that can't identify who interacted with a LinkedIn post is limited in what it can accomplish.

So I built the data layer I wished existed throughout all those projects.

Who is SocialRouter built for, and what makes it valuable?

    Alex Mili:

    There are two primary groups.

The first is developers who need social data but don't want to manage multiple providers and APIs.

The second is what I call operators — semi-technical builders using tools like n8n, Make, MCP servers, and AI workflows.

For both groups, the value is simplicity.

Users skip provider selection, account management, API maintenance, and output normalization.

They only pay for successful records returned.

    Failed extractions aren't billed.

There are no subscriptions and no minimum commitments.

What makes SocialRouter different from other solutions in the market?

    Alex Mili:

    Three things.

    Pricing Transparency

Users only pay for successful records returned.

    Failed extractions cost nothing.

There are no subscriptions, no minimums, and users can even bring their own provider keys if they prefer.

    Provider Normalization

The same service returns the same response structure regardless of which provider fulfills the request.

This makes providers interchangeable and dramatically reduces integration complexity.

    Agent-First Infrastructure

The MCP server isn't an afterthought.

It's a core part of the product.

AI agents can connect, retrieve structured social data, and operate without human-written glue code.

The routing layer also improves reliability by protecting users from individual provider outages.

What has been the biggest challenge you've faced while building the company?

    Alex Mili:

    Deciding what to promise.

    The engineering challenges are solvable.

The harder part is resisting the temptation to make grand marketing claims.

The category is full of products promising everything.

    My rule is simple:

"The website should only say what the code actually does."

That discipline may cost some marketing polish, but it's also why developers who try the product continue to use it.

Is there a milestone or achievement you're particularly proud of?

    Alex Mili:

Winning Week 17 on The Capital is certainly exciting.

But the moment that mattered most was much smaller.

A developer friend signed up, connected SocialRouter to Claude through the MCP server, and pulled live LinkedIn data during a single session without any help from me.

That experience represented exactly why the product exists.

Everything — the SDK, services, documentation, and infrastructure — exists to make that process boring and repeatable.

What role does AI play in SocialRouter, and where do you see the industry heading?

    Alex Mili:

AI isn't a feature of SocialRouter.

    It's the customer.

The entire platform exists because AI agents need access to real-world data to perform commercial work.

That's why we invested early in MCP support, agent-readable documentation, and agent-friendly infrastructure.

Looking ahead, I believe more purchasing decisions will be made by agents rather than humans.

The companies that make themselves easy for machines to understand — through clean schemas, transparent pricing, and self-service experiences — will capture that demand.

What advice would you give to founders building AI startups today?

    Alex Mili:

For years, I built things that never became public.

    Ideas.

    Roadmaps.

Weeks of work that nobody ever saw.

    My advice is simple:

"The exposure you're avoiding is often the work that matters most."

Put unfinished products in front of real people and learn from what breaks.

    For AI startups specifically:

    Demo with live data.

    Not screenshots.

An AI agent interacting with a real API is a completely different product from an agent running inside a controlled demo environment.

    What's next for SocialRouter?

    Alex Mili:

    More services.

    More networks.

    More providers behind every service.

We're also working on asynchronous processing for larger jobs, caching for repeat requests, and broader distribution through agent registries and orchestration platforms.

The roadmap follows real user demand.

    Not arbitrary deadlines.
