CitedIndex
AI visibility has become a real budget line, and with it a crowd of tools claiming to measure whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews mention your brand. The problem for a buyer is that these products measure quite different things — prompt-level citation tracking, share-of-voice across model answers, rank tracking inside AI results, content optimisation for generative engines, and citation-building services are not interchangeable, yet they are marketed with near-identical language. CitedIndex exists to make that distinction legible before you pay for something. It is deliberately short. Rather than scraping every product with a landing page, each listing is researched from primary sources, carries the date it was last verified and a changelog of what has changed since, and anything that cannot be sourced is left out instead of guessed at. That produces fewer entries than a scraped directory and considerably more trust per entry — which is the correct trade for a category this new, where half the marketing claims cannot be substantiated. Listing is free for tool makers; the only paid element is a one-time upgrade for a do-follow link, disclosed on the site, which keeps money out of the ordering. The honest caveat is that GEO measurement itself is immature: model answers vary by prompt, session and region, so every tool in this index is estimating rather than reporting ground truth. A good index cannot fix that, but knowing precisely what each tool measures is the difference between buying deliberately and buying on a claim.
